Taraji P. Henson carries the entire film, narrating Melinda's story through flashbacks that run from the early warmth of college romance to something much colder. Lyriq Bent plays Robert — not a cartoon villain, just a man whose ambition cost someone else more than he ever acknowledged. Perry structures the film like a deposition, letting viewers sift through whose version to believe and where devotion crosses into obsession.
