Admission

Admission (2013) is a comedy-drama with Tina Fey you can watch online on iFILM. She decides who gets into Princeton and who does not. Her own life, though, is a mess she keeps failing to sort out.

Portia has spent years in the admissions office of an elite university, used to judging strangers by the folder on her desk. Things shift when a former classmate, the easygoing John (Paul Rudd), invites her to scout a student at his alternative high school. The boy is bright but anything but a straight-A type, and John suspects he is the child Portia quietly gave up for adoption long ago. From there she has to juggle a shaky career, an unexpected romance, and a kind of motherhood she had forbidden herself to imagine.

Paul Weitz directs, adapting the novel by Jean Hanff Korelitz. Alongside Fey and Rudd are Lily Tomlin as a sharp-tongued feminist mother and Michael Sheen. The mood stays light, yet underneath the jokes sits a quiet question about choices and second chances. Stream Admission (2013) online on iFILM.
