Synopsis
United 93 (2006) is Paul Greengrass's real-time drama you can watch online on iFILM. Four planes were hijacked that Tuesday morning. Three hit their targets; this is what happened on the fourth.
The film stays on the clock as the day unravels. Air traffic controllers lose contact with flights, military commanders scramble for answers they don't have, and aboard United Flight 93 the passengers piece the truth together from phone calls home. Greengrass shoots handheld, with no movie stars and almost no score; real pilots, flight attendants and FAA controllers play many of the roles. Once the people on board understand where the plane is heading, a handful of them decide to rush the cockpit.
The story is reconstructed from cockpit recordings, family accounts and the official inquiry, which is why it refuses easy heroics and keeps a documentary plainness instead. It earned an Academy Award nomination for Greengrass's direction. Stream United 93 (2006) online on iFILM.
