Synopsis
The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning (2008) is a Disney family animated film you can watch online on iFILM. The story unfolds long before Ariel ever meets Prince Eric, back when the young mermaid still lives among her sisters in the kingdom under the sea.
Atlantica once rang with music. Then Queen Athena dies in a pirate attack, and her grieving husband King Triton bans singing across the whole realm. Ariel refuses to accept the silence. With her friends Flounder the fish and Sebastian the crab, she discovers a hidden club where music still plays and sets out to change her father's mind. Jodi Benson, who voiced Ariel in the 1989 classic, returns to the role here.
This prequel to The Little Mermaid explains where Ariel's love of song came from and why things with her father grew so tense.
