Synopsis

Over winter break, basketball captain Troy and shy honor student Gabriella get pushed onstage at a karaoke party and end up singing a duet. When break ends, she turns up as the new girl at his school, East High. The two sign up to audition for the school musical together, and that one choice upends the unwritten rule that jocks stick with jocks and brainy kids stay in the library. Drama queen Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) and her brother Ryan are not about to share the spotlight.
