The Wandering Earth II

The Wandering Earth II (流浪地球2, 2023) is a Chinese sci-fi epic you can watch online on iFILM. Director Frant Gwo returns with a prequel to his 2019 blockbuster, bringing Wu Jing and Andy Lau together for 173 minutes of large-scale survival cinema — shot on a budget of roughly $74 million and earned back over $665 million at the box office.

The sun is dying. Earth has maybe a century before it becomes uninhabitable, and humanity's answer is audacious: build thousands of planetary engines across the surface, ignite them, and physically steer the planet out of the solar system toward a new star. Liu Peiqiang, played by Wu Jing, is stationed on the space elevator that keeps the whole project running. Tu Hengyu, played by Andy Lau, is an engineer consumed by grief and a private obsession: uploading his dead daughter's consciousness into a digital backup before the world ends. While governments argue, terrorists hit the elevator, and the countdown keeps running.
