The Terror (Seasons 1–2)

The Terror (2018) is an AMC historical horror drama you can watch online on iFILM. In 1845 two Royal Navy ships sail off to chart the Northwest Passage and get locked in the Arctic ice.

Sir John Franklin leads the expedition, but the weight falls on Captain Francis Crozier, played by Jared Harris. Months pass and the ships never move. Provisions rot, scurvy and dread eat away at the men, and something out in the dark begins hunting the crew. Ciarán Hinds, Tobias Menzies and Adam Nagaitis fill out the officers whose choices push everyone closer to the end.

The anthology format would later revisit other real nightmares, yet this first season stays the strongest. It grew out of Franklin's actual lost voyage and Dan Simmons's novel. Here the cold is scarier than any monster. Stream The Terror (2018) online on iFILM.
