Synopsis

Rushmore (1998) is Wes Anderson's deadpan comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Fifteen-year-old Max Fischer attends the elite Rushmore Academy and runs half its clubs — theater, beekeeping, fencing, astronomy, you name it. The catch: his grades are terrible, and the headmaster is one bad report card away from expelling him.

Everything shifts when Max falls for Rosemary Cross (Olivia Williams), a widowed first-grade teacher. For advice he turns to a weary steel tycoon named Herman Blume, played by Bill Murray. The problem is that Blume falls for Rosemary too. Two friends become rivals, and their fight for her attention spirals far past anything reasonable.

This was Anderson's second feature and the one that put him on the map: the symmetrical frames, the British Invasion soundtrack, and a hero too grown-up for his age yet far too young for the adult world. It also marked Jason Schwartzman's screen debut. Stream Rushmore (1998) online on iFILM.
