About

Synopsis

Weird Science (1985) is John Hughes' sci-fi comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Two outcast teens build their dream girl on a home computer.

Gary (Anthony Michael Hall) and Wyatt (Ilan Mitchell-Smith) sit at the bottom of the high-school food chain. Girls ignore them, jocks shove them around, and another weekend looks dead on arrival. So they try something insane: feed magazine cutouts into Wyatt's PC, wire it up, wait for lightning, and hope. Out of the smoke walks Lisa (Kelly LeBrock) — grown, sharp-tongued and a lot smarter than the boys who made her. Instead of a date, she hands them a crash course in growing up: a house party that swallows the neighborhood, bikers in the living room, and a face-off with everything they're scared of.

Hughes, the writer behind The Breakfast Club, rebuilt the Frankenstein myth as loud 1980s teen comedy. Keep an eye out for a young Robert Downey Jr. and Bill Paxton as Chet, the bullying older brother nobody forgets. It's silly, brash and weirdly sweet — exactly why people still queue up for it.
