Joseph (Steve Oram) is a coarse, hard-drinking guide worn down by his own demons, and he demands total obedience. He seals the house inside a circle of salt: until the rite is finished, no one steps outside. What follows is weeks of fasting, sleeplessness and grinding repetition, where it stays unclear whether spirits are being summoned or two people are simply unravelling inside a locked box.

Gavin builds dread through patience rather than jump scares, framing the ceremony almost as gruelling manual labour.
