The Last Rodeo

Director Jon Avnet frames the rodeo sequences around a quieter conflict: the estrangement between the grandfather and his daughter (Sara Jones), who has kept him at arm's length for years. Mikkelti Williamson and Christopher McDonald appear in supporting roles. The competition gives the story its momentum, but the scenes that land are the ones where two people who've been avoiding each other finally have to sit in the same room.
