About

Synopsis

Save the Tiger (1973) is an American drama directed by John G. Avildsen — watch online on iFILM. The film follows Harry Stoner, a Los Angeles garment manufacturer, across roughly thirty-six hours during which his business starts to eat him alive.

Harry, played by Jack Lemmon in his Academy Award-winning performance, runs through a grim checklist to survive: arrange an arson on his own warehouse, line up women for clients, keep smiling at a trade show. In between, he drifts into memories of a pre-war America that no longer exists. His partner Phil, played by Jack Gilford, still has a line he won't cross — and watching Harry cross it anyway is what gives the film its quiet devastation.

The screenplay by Steve Shagan balances sharp social critique with something rawer: a portrait of a man who sold out so gradually he didn't notice until the bill came due. Stream Save the Tiger (1973) on iFILM.
