Star Trek: Discovery (2017) is the sci-fi series you can watch online on iFILM. It opens roughly ten years before the original 1966 Star Trek, aboard the starship USS Discovery NCC-1031 as Starfleet pushes into unmapped space.

Sonequa Martin-Green leads as Michael Burnham, a Starfleet officer raised on Vulcan whose split-second decision drags the Federation toward war with the Klingons. Around her: a guarded captain, fungus-obsessed engineer Paul Stamets, and the skittish, sharp-eyed Saru played by Doug Jones. The crew chases a spore-drive that can jump the ship across the galaxy, and the cost of using it keeps climbing.

The show rebooted the franchise for the streaming era, with Alex Kurtzman and Bryan Fuller behind it and Next Generation's Jonathan Frakes among the directors. Michelle Yeoh joins the cast early on.
