Synopsis

Rules of Engagement (2000) is a military courtroom drama from director William Friedkin you can watch online on iFILM. A Marine colonel faces court-martial after he orders his men to fire on a crowd outside the U.S. embassy in Yemen.

Terry Childers (Samuel L. Jackson) has served thirty years without a mark against him. Sent to pull an ambassador out of a city in chaos, he runs into a full assault: his Marines are being shot down, and he gives the order to return fire. Eighty-three civilians die. To defend him, Childers calls on an old combat buddy, Hayes Hodges (Tommy Lee Jones) — a mediocre lawyer who owes the colonel his life. Across the aisle sit an ambitious prosecutor (Guy Pearce) and a national security adviser (Bruce Greenwood) who'd rather hang it all on one soldier.

Friedkin frames the picture as a clash between two Vietnam veterans: what really happened in that square, and whether a soldier can be judged by paperwork at all. Jackson and Jones carry the film on sheer chemistry. Stream Rules of Engagement (2000) online on iFILM.
