Synopsis

The Cobbler (2014) is a fantasy drama with a comic streak you can watch online on iFILM. Director Tom McCarthy centers the film on Max Simkin, who mends shoes in the same Lower East Side shop his family has run for generations. The routine has worn him down, and every day looks like the last.

Then an old stitching machine in the basement turns out to be more than a tool. Slip on a pair he repaired with it, and Max becomes whoever owns them, literally walking around in another person's skin and life. At first it is a prank, then a way to see what a cobbler never gets to see, and finally a reason to step into the troubles of his own neighborhood. Adam Sandler leads, alongside Dustin Hoffman, Steve Buscemi, Method Man and Ellen Barkin.

McCarthy, later known for Spotlight, plays it as an urban fairy tale and puts Sandler in a quieter, half-serious key. A small New York story about shoes, borrowed lives, and what it really means to walk a mile in someone else's. Stream The Cobbler (2014) online on iFILM.
