Synopsis

Rookie cop Denny Colt is killed in the line of duty and walks back out of the grave. Reborn as the masked vigilante known as The Spirit, he prowls the shadows of Central City and simply refuses to stay dead. Standing against him is The Octopus, played with cackling glee by Samuel L. Jackson, a maniac out to erase the whole city and quick to murder anyone who sees his face. Trouble follows the hero in heels: icy Silken Floss (Scarlett Johansson), jewel thief Sand Saref (Eva Mendes), and Dr. Ellen Dolan (Sarah Paulson).
Miller built the film from Will Eisner's landmark comic strip, keeping its stark look intact: a black city, a white coat, blood that glows. Gabriel Macht plays a man who flirts with death as casually as he does with every femme fatale in the room. Stream The Spirit (2008) online on iFILM.
