Synopsis
Pete's Dragon (1977) is a Disney family musical you can watch online on iFILM. A nine-year-old orphan named Pete runs off to a Maine fishing town, and tagging along is Elliott — a clumsy green dragon only Pete seems able to see.
Elliott turns invisible whenever he likes and can't resist a prank, so trouble follows the boy everywhere. A kind lighthouse keeper's daughter, Nora, takes Pete in. Then a pair of crooked traveling salesmen decide the dragon would make them rich, and Pete has to pull off a rescue. The movie mixes real actors with hand-drawn animation, dropping a cartoon Elliott into live-action scenery.
Directed by Don Chaffey, the cast includes Sean Marshall, Helen Reddy, Jim Dale and Mickey Rooney. The film earned two Academy Award nominations, for its score and the song "Candle on the Water."
