Alpha

Alpha (2018) is an adventure drama you can watch online on iFILM. Twenty thousand years ago, during the last Ice Age, a young hunter named Keda joins his tribe's bison hunt for the first time and is thrown off a cliff in the chaos.

His people leave him for dead and move on. Keda survives, battered and alone in a frozen wilderness, with weeks of brutal terrain between him and home. Along the way he wounds a wolf cut off from its pack, then chooses to spare the animal instead of finishing it. What follows is an uneasy partnership: two injured creatures, a boy and a predator, learning to trust each other through cold, hunger, and the things that hunt at night. Kodi Smit-McPhee carries the film with little dialogue and a lot of grit.

Director Albert Hughes shot a nearly wordless story, with the characters speaking an invented ancient tongue rendered in subtitles. The real language here is gesture and glance, set against sweeping glacial vistas. Stream Alpha (2018) online on iFILM.
