Synopsis
Miss Stevens (2016) — watch online on iFILM this low-key indie drama written and directed by Julia Hart. High school English teacher Rachel Stevens (Lily Rabe) is handed a weekend chaperone duty: drive three students — Billy, Margot and Sam — to a regional drama competition. Billy, played by a teenage Timothée Chalamet, is volatile and bright in equal measure, and he spends the trip holding up an uncomfortable mirror to the adult supervising him.
Forty-eight hours outside a classroom has a way of collapsing the usual distance between teacher and student. Stevens is stuck somewhere she cannot name; her students turn out to be more perceptive than she bargained for. Hart keeps the film small and specific, letting the performances carry the weight. Stream Miss Stevens online on iFILM — a quiet two-hander that earns its ending.
