Synopsis
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015) is a coming-of-age tragicomedy by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, and you can watch it online on iFILM. High schooler Greg has perfected the art of being invisible. Then his mother orders him to befriend a classmate with leukemia.
Greg (Thomas Mann) drifts through senior year keeping everyone at arm's length, while secretly shooting goofy parodies of art-house classics with his one friend, Earl (RJ Cyler). When Rachel (Olivia Cooke) gets her diagnosis, the visits start as a chore. They turn into the friendship that reshapes him. The boys set out to make Rachel her own film, and what comes back is nothing like the plan.
The cast includes Nick Offerman, Connie Britton, Molly Shannon and Jon Bernthal, with Hugh Jackman turning up in a surprise cameo. The movie swept Sundance, taking both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award, and it sidesteps the usual sentimentality of sick-teen stories: the jokes cut, and the ending refuses an easy hug.
