Synopsis

The Truman Show (1998) is a drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Peter Weir and produced by Paramount Pictures. Jim Carrey plays Truman Burbank, an insurance salesman living in a spotless seaside town who has never left — and has no idea that every moment of his life has been broadcast live to a global audience for thirty years.

The cracks start small. A studio light drops out of a clear sky in front of his house. The radio picks up a channel that seems to be narrating his movements. His father, long presumed dead, turns up on a street corner. Laura Linney plays his wife Meryl — cheerful, precise, always hitting her mark. Noah Emmerich is his best friend Marlon, scripted to say the right thing at the right moment. Ed Harris is Christof, the show's creator, watching from a control room above the clouds, genuinely convinced he has given Truman the best possible life.

Andrew Niccol wrote the screenplay several years before the first reality TV boom and a decade before social media normalized the idea of living on camera. The film earned three Academy Award nominations, and Harris won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor. Weir keeps the satire quiet — this is more a film about the comfort of a managed life than a comedy of surveillance. Stream The Truman Show (1998) online on iFILM.
