Synopsis

Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016) is a horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Los Angeles, 1967. A widowed mother and her two daughters make rent by staging fake séances, comforting grieving clients with rigged tricks and hidden wires.

To freshen the act, Alice brings home a Ouija board as a new prop. The problem is that this time something answers for real. Her youngest, Doris, starts speaking in voices that aren't hers and knows things she has no way of knowing, and the family soon realizes they invited a guest no one can ask to leave. Elizabeth Reaser plays the mother who grasps the danger far too late, while nine-year-old Lulu Wilson as Doris is the reason the movie crawls under your skin.

Director Mike Flanagan, who would go on to make The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass, already shows his trademark restraint here, building dread through silence and slow takes rather than cheap jolts. It's a prequel to 2014's Ouija, but you don't need the first film to follow it. Stream Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016) online on iFILM.
