Synopsis
Two for the Money (2005) is a crime drama by D.J. Caruso you can watch online on iFILM. Former college quarterback Brandon blows out his knee just as his pro career begins. The NFL dream is over. What he keeps is a strange talent: he calls the outcome of football games better than any analyst alive.
That gift draws the attention of Walter Abrams (Al Pacino), who runs a firm selling sports picks to high-rolling gamblers. Walter signs Brandon (Matthew McConaughey), rebrands him as John Anthony and markets him as an infallible betting oracle. The money pours in and the phones never stop, but underneath the shine sit addiction, other people's debts and a mentor who sees his own reflection in the kid. Rene Russo plays Walter's wife, the one keeping both men off the edge.
The script draws loosely on the life of real-life handicapper Brandon Link. Caruso shapes it into a story about gambling sold as a service and confidence packaged as a product with a short shelf life. The Pacino-McConaughey pairing carries the whole thing.
