Synopsis

It is the autumn of 1943. Twenty-six-year-old Rosa has left bomb-damaged Berlin to stay with her in-laws in the village of Gross-Partsch while her husband Gregor fights on the Eastern Front. One morning, SS officers show up and take her away without a word. A few kilometres through the forest sits the Führer's headquarters — and a small group of local women have been recruited for one specific task: eating every meal before it reaches Hitler's table. Max Riemelt plays Ziegler, the officer overseeing the operation, who is harder to read than the rest; Alma Hasun is Elfriede, a fellow taster who has already worked out the rules for staying alive.
