Synopsis

Ex-cop Jack Walsh now hauls in fugitives for cash. One last job looks easy: bring a mild-mannered accountant nicknamed the Duke from New York to Los Angeles for a hundred grand. The catch is that the Duke skimmed millions off a mob boss before jumping bail, so everyone wants him. He refuses to fly. The FBI is tailing them, a rival bounty hunter keeps trying to grab the prize, and the mob would rather see the accountant dead than testifying. What should take a day stretches into a cross-country slog by train, bus and stolen car, with two men who can't stand each other stuck side by side.
Written by George Gallo and directed by the man behind Beverly Hills Cop, the film is a rare blend of road movie, buddy picture and thriller. Grodin supplies the deadpan, De Niro the fuse. Yaphet Kotto and Dennis Farina join the chase. Stream Midnight Run (1988) online on iFILM.
