Synopsis
The World Unseen (2007) is a British-South African drama directed by Shamim Sarif — watch it online on iFILM. Lisa Ray and Sheetal Sheth play two women in 1950s South Africa, where apartheid laws regulated every interaction: where you sat, who served you, and which street you were allowed to walk down.
Amina runs a small café that ignores all those rules, serving customers across the colour line and answering to no one. Miriam lives inside the rules — married, constrained, quietly resigned. Their friendship gradually becomes something neither of them expected. Sarif adapted her own novel for the screen, and the film earns its emotional weight through specific, grounded scenes rather than declarations. It is a quiet film about two kinds of courage: the public kind and the private kind. Stream The World Unseen (2007) online on iFILM.
