Synopsis
Jungle Fever (1991) — watch online on iFILM, Spike Lee's drama about a cross-racial affair in early 1990s New York. Wesley Snipes plays Flipper Purify, a successful Black architect from Harlem with a wife, a daughter and a career going exactly where he planned.
Then he hires Angie, an Italian-American woman from Bensonhurst played by Annabella Sciorra. The affair is brief. The damage it does is not. Harlem and Bensonhurst react with equal fury, just from opposite directions. Flipper's marriage falls apart. Angie's family erupts. Running alongside this is the story of Flipper's brother Gator, a crack addict played by Samuel L. Jackson — a performance so precise it earned Jackson a special jury prize at Cannes in 1991.
Lee builds the film as a map of a city divided by race, where a relationship across that line becomes a public statement whether the people in it want it to or not. The cast also includes Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, John Turturro, Anthony Quinn and Halle Berry. Stream Jungle Fever (1991) online on iFILM.
