About

Synopsis

The Hunger (1983) is Tony Scott's vampire horror you can watch online on iFILM. A sleek, shadowy 92-minute drama starring Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie and Susan Sarandon.

Miriam has lived for thousands of years, and to every lover she promises eternity at her side. Her companion John, a cellist, has shared centuries with her — until he begins aging decades in a matter of hours. Desperate, he turns to Dr. Sarah Roberts, a scientist studying the biology of getting old. What forms is a chilling triangle of desire, blood and betrayal, with the researcher herself drawn in as prey.

This was Tony Scott's first feature, years before Top Gun or Man on Fire. He shot it like an extended music video: smoke and slatted light, Bauhaus playing over the opening, the icy glamour of Manhattan nightclubs. Critics savaged it at first, yet it grew into a cult touchstone for goth and Bowie fans alike. Watch closely for a young Willem Dafoe in a blink-and-miss bit part.
