Synopsis
Hell House LLC (2015) is a found-footage horror by Stephen Cognetti you can watch online on iFILM. On opening night of a Halloween haunted-house tour, fifteen people die inside an old hotel. No one ever explained why.
Five years later a documentary crew returns to the abandoned building to dig into the disaster. They get hold of the raw tapes the event company shot while building the attraction, and at first it all looks ordinary: crews hanging decorations, setting up mannequins, rehearsing the scares. Then the small things stop adding up. Cameras switch on by themselves. The dummies are never where someone left them. One of the crew starts to change.
The film leans on the home-video format and almost no score, so the dread comes from silence and from whatever you catch in the background of a shot. Cognetti's debut spawned several sequels and a cult following for exactly that reason: it feels like real footage, where the fear is less about a jump scare and more about sensing something extra in the frame.
