Synopsis
Human Traffic (1999) is a British-Irish comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM — Justin Kerrigan's debut feature, shot in Cardiff, that captured the weekend club culture of the nineties better than anything else from that era.
Jip, Lulu, Koop, Nina and Moff spend their weeks in dead-end jobs, counting down to Friday night. Then the weekend lands. From the first pill to the last cup of recovery tea on Sunday, the film follows them through clubs, comedowns, late-night conversations that feel profound and look ridiculous by morning, and the particular camaraderie of people who've decided the dancefloor is the only place that makes sense. John Simm and Danny Dyer are both sharp and unguarded — no moralising, no tragedy arc. Just five people living fast.
Kerrigan shot it on almost no money and filled every frame with nervous energy. The big beat and techno soundtrack still hits. Stream Human Traffic (1999) online on iFILM.
