Synopsis
Pedro Páramo (2024) is a Mexican fantasy drama directed by Rodrigo Prieto — watch it online on iFILM. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo plays Juan Preciado, a man who travels to the ghost town of Comala to find his father, Pedro Páramo, portrayed by Tenoch Huerta. The film adapts Juan Rulfo's 1955 novel, a foundational text for Latin American literature that shaped magical realism long before the label existed.
Comala has no living residents left — only voices. The dead remember everything, and they talk. From their murmurs emerges the portrait of Pedro Páramo himself: a man whose obsessive, unrequited love destroyed an entire village and everyone in it. Prieto, best known internationally as the cinematographer for Scorsese and Almodóvar, here steps behind the director's chair and builds a world where the boundary between the living and the dead is not a plot device but the atmosphere itself.
Dolores Heredia and Ilse Salas round out the ensemble in strong supporting turns. Stream Pedro Páramo (2024) online on iFILM.
