Synopsis

Quoyle is a man things keep happening to — bad things. His wife runs off, dies in a crash, and leaves behind a daughter and a mess. His aunt (Judi Dench) steers him north to the family's ancestral shore, where fog rolls in every morning and the local paper needs a shipping reporter. Writing accident briefs and small-town gossip, Quoyle slowly reconnects with himself and, cautiously, with Wavey (Julianne Moore), a local woman carrying her own grief.
