One day SID figures out how to build himself a body and walks out of the simulation into the real world. The job of stopping him falls to Parker Barnes, a disgraced ex-cop behind bars, partly because SID was coded with the personality of the man who murdered Barnes's family. Denzel Washington plays Barnes; a young Russell Crowe is SID in one of his earliest Hollywood roles, alongside Kelly Lynch and William Forsythe.
