Synopsis
Compañeros (Vamos a matar, compañeros, 1970) is a Sergio Corbucci spaghetti western you can watch online on iFILM. Swedish arms dealer Yolaf Peterson rides into a Mexican revolutionary town with one goal: close a weapons deal with guerrilla commander Mongo. The problem — Mongo's money sits behind a vault only the imprisoned Professor Xantos can open.
Franco Nero and Tomas Milián play a forced partnership that neither man wants. Peterson is in it for the payout; guerrilla fighter Basco is in it on principle. Getting Xantos out of American custody means tolerating each other long enough not to get killed first. Trailing them is John "The Wooden Hand" — a former associate of Peterson's who lost his hand in a deal gone wrong and has been waiting for a chance to settle the score. Jack Palance plays him with quiet, unhurried menace.
Corbucci made this just four years after Django, and the tone is just as ruthless — dark humor sitting right next to the violence. Wooden Hand stands as one of the genre's sharpest villains. Stream Compañeros (1970) online on iFILM.
