When the real president collapses from a stroke, his staff slips Dave into the Oval Office and expects a smiling puppet. They get something else. Dave balances the federal budget with a spreadsheet over takeout, rescues a homeless-shelter bill, and quietly falls for the First Lady. Sigourney Weaver plays her as a woman who stopped speaking to her husband years ago. Frank Langella sharpens the scheming chief of staff into a real menace, and Ben Kingsley turns up as the vice president.
