Synopsis
Blazing Saddles (1974) is Mel Brooks' parody western you can watch online on iFILM. A railroad needs to run straight through the town of Rock Ridge, and someone wants the land for free.
The scheme belongs to crooked land baron Hedley Lamarr: make life in Rock Ridge miserable, then talk the dim governor into appointing the West's first Black sheriff, betting the townsfolk will run him out themselves. They picked the wrong man. New sheriff Bart (Cleavon Little) is sharper than everyone gunning for him, and he teams up with a washed-up gunslinger called the Waco Kid, played by Gene Wilder. What follows is a campfire bean dinner, a brawl that spills off the set, and a finale that crashes right into a Hollywood soundstage.
Brooks mixed racial satire, slapstick and pure anarchy into a film people still quote line for line. Madeline Kahn shows up as saloon singer Lili von Shtupp, and Brooks himself pops up in several roles. Decades on, it still ranks among the funniest movies ever made.
