Synopsis

Incendies (2010) is Denis Villeneuve's 131-minute mystery drama — watch it online on iFILM. A Canadian-French co-production from micro_scope and TS Productions, starring Lubna Azabal, Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin and Maxim Gaudette.

A notary reads a dead woman's will: her twin children Jeanne and Simon must travel to the Middle East to find a father they believed long dead and a brother whose existence was never mentioned. The two follow her trail through war zones, refugee camps and prison records, piecing together a life their mother kept locked away. Each document they turn over opens a door onto something darker.

The film is adapted from Lebanese-Canadian playwright Wajdi Mouawad's stage work. Canada submitted it as its entry for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film in 2011. Villeneuve structures the story across two timelines — the mother's past and the twins' present — converging in a final revelation that reframes every scene before it.
