Synopsis
The Guilty (2021) is a tense single-room thriller with Jake Gyllenhaal you can watch online on iFILM. Demoted cop Joe Baylor works a shift answering 911 calls, stuck behind a dispatch desk as punishment. The night drags on until a frightened woman whispers down the line.
She speaks in fragments, as if someone is listening beside her. Joe pieces it together: she has been taken, driven somewhere along the highway in a white van. All he has to save her is a headset and his own voice, because the camera barely leaves the cramped call center. The longer they talk, the more the story he built in his head falls apart, and the more it becomes clear he has to face himself first.
Director Antoine Fuqua stages nearly the entire film on one actor and his face, reworking the 2018 Danish original for Netflix.
