About

Synopsis

L.A. Confidential (1997) is a neo-noir crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Curtis Hanson directs Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, Kevin Spacey and Kim Basinger through a Los Angeles of early-1950s glamour rotting from the inside out.

A late-night diner massacre throws three mismatched cops into the same case. Bud White solves problems with his fists. Ed Exley plays the rulebook and aims for the top. Jack Vincennes moonlights for a tabloid, trading arrests for headlines. Each pulls a different thread, and the threads knot together into one web of blackmail, vice, and badges for sale. Nobody is clean, and almost nobody is who they claim to be.

Brian Helgeland and Hanson adapted James Ellroy's novel into a script that won an Academy Award, with Basinger taking a second Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Nine nominations, and a film still held up as the gold standard of modern noir. Stream L.A. Confidential (1997) online on iFILM.
