Synopsis

12 Angry Men (1997) is a television drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by William Friedkin from Reginald Rose's original play. Jack Lemmon leads an extraordinary cast: George C. Scott, James Gandolfini, Tony Danza, Armin Mueller-Stahl, Edward James Olmos, Ossie Davis, and Hume Cronyn — all locked in a single room for 117 minutes.

A young man is one vote away from the electric chair. Eleven jurors are ready to call it done. The twelfth — Lemmon's juror — asks to slow down. He has no alibi for the defendant, no alternative theory. He just isn't sure. What follows is a dissection of how twelve different men, carrying twelve different grievances and blindspots, push and pull toward a verdict. Friedkin shoots it close and spare, trusting the writing and the actors rather than the camera. Gandolfini, years before The Sopranos, and Danza, against type, are among the standouts.

The 1997 version holds up as one of the better screen adaptations of Rose's play. Stream 12 Angry Men (1997) online on iFILM.
