The Judge

The Judge (2014) is a courtroom family drama you can watch online on iFILM. Slick Chicago attorney Hank Palmer (Robert Downey Jr.) drives back to the small town he left behind to bury his mother — and ends up staying far longer than he planned.

The reason is ugly. His father, longtime town judge Joseph Palmer (Robert Duvall), is accused of running a man down and killing him. The two haven't really spoken in years, and now the son has to defend a father he barely knows. Hank owns any courtroom; at home he's a stranger. His older brother nurses old wounds, his younger brother lives in a fog of his own, an old flame (Vera Farmiga) is still around, and a sharp-tongued prosecutor (Billy Bob Thornton) is gunning to win.

Director David Dobkin lets Downey and Duvall go at each other scene after scene — one all wit and ego, the other too proud to take pity. Underneath the trial sits a quieter story about guilt, illness and the things fathers and sons never say. Stream The Judge (2014) online on iFILM.
