Synopsis

Team America: World Police (2004) is a marionette satire you can watch online on iFILM. It comes from Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the minds behind South Park, who staged the whole thing with puppets dangling on visible strings. That is half the joke: the cast jerks around stiffly while fighting terrorists and saving the planet with deadly serious expressions.

An elite counter-terror squad recruits Broadway actor Gary, whose job is to pose as a terrorist and infiltrate the enemy. Meanwhile North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il cooks up a global plot, and a Hollywood pacifist clique, the Film Actors Guild, keeps getting in the way of the team's shoot-first heroics. The tagline says it all: freedom hangs by a thread.

Parker and Stone skewer brainless flag-waving and smug celebrity activism in equal measure, sparing nobody. The film is infamous for a puppet sex scene that had to be recut to dodge a harsher rating. It's crude, absurd, and outrageously funny. Stream Team America: World Police (2004) online on iFILM.
