About

Synopsis

Mask (1985) is a biographical drama by Peter Bogdanovich based on a true story — watch online on iFILM. Eric Stoltz plays Rocky Dennis, a sixteen-year-old whose face is enlarged and disfigured by a rare bone disease with no known cure. He is also one of the sharpest kids in his class and largely unbothered by how long strangers stare.

Rocky lives with his mother Rusty (Cher) — a biker, a drifter, and a woman whose love for her son runs deeper than her struggles with addiction. The extended family is a motorcycle club, and Garnie (Sam Elliott) may or may not be Rocky's father. Rocky falls for a blind girl (Laura Dern), finds acceptance in unexpected places, and navigates high school on his own terms. The disease does not define the story. Rocky does.

Bogdanovich keeps the film from tipping into pity or uplift — it earns its emotional ground through specific detail and honest performances. Cher received a Golden Globe nomination for her role. Stream Mask (1985) on iFILM.
