Synopsis
Tyson (1995) is a biographical drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Uli Edel and based on José Torres's book Fire and Fear. Michael Jai White plays Mike Tyson across the full arc — from a twelve-year-old with a forty-entry arrest record in Brownsville, Brooklyn, to undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, to a rape conviction that put him in an Indiana prison.
George C. Scott plays Cus D'Amato, the trainer who took Tyson in after his mother's death and built the fighter's entire mental framework. D'Amato's death is the film's quiet turning point. Everything that follows — the titles, the money, the chaos — happens in the absence of the one person who understood how to contain what he'd created.
The film moves briskly and doesn't offer a verdict, which is both its restraint and, for some viewers, its limitation. It's a record of velocity — how fast a talent can rise and how little it takes to lose the frame around it. Stream Tyson (1995) online on iFILM.
