Carnage

Carnage (2011) is Roman Polanski's acid comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. After two boys brawl in a Brooklyn park, their parents sit down to settle the matter like reasonable adults.

Penelope and Michael (Jodie Foster and John C. Reilly) host the Cowans in their apartment: Alan (Christoph Waltz), a lawyer glued to his phone, and his wife Nancy (Kate Winslet). It starts with coffee, cobbler and polite smiles. Then the talk about whose kid did what curdles into snide remarks, spilled scotch and open warfare, until the four grown-ups behave worse than the children they came to defend. The whole thing unfolds in one room, in real time, across roughly eighty minutes with no escape.

Adapted from Yasmina Reza's stage play God of Carnage, the film keeps the camera boxed in tight with its squabbling cast. The four leads play off each other so sharply you end up laughing at yourself. Stream Carnage (2011) online on iFILM.
