One Week

One Week (2008) is a Canadian drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Michael McGowan and led by Campbell Scott. Ben Tyler is in his early thirties when he gets a cancer diagnosis and a grim survival estimate. He does not call the treatment center. He buys an old motorcycle and rides west from Toronto — across the flat prairies, into the Rockies, all the way to the British Columbia coast.

The trip takes seven days. Along the way Ben meets a handful of strangers, thinks back on what he gave up, and watches the landscape shift from grain fields to granite peaks. McGowan avoids the tidy transformation arc: Scott plays a man simply moving through space and paying attention, which turns out to be harder to pull off on screen than it sounds.

Joshua Jackson appears in a supporting role. Much of the film's effect comes from the road itself — the sheer visual fact of Canada from a motorcycle seat. A quiet film about the things most people keep meaning to do. Stream One Week (2008) online on iFILM.
