Synopsis

The Secret of Santa Vittoria (1970) is a Stanley Kramer war comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Anthony Quinn plays Bombolini — the town drunk who stumbles into the mayor's chair just as German troops are marching toward the village.

The townspeople have one night to hide more than a million bottles of wine. They bury it, brick it up, haul it through the dark vineyards in silence. Anna Magnani blazes alongside Quinn as his furious, fearless wife, and a young Giancarlo Giannini rounds out the cast. The German commandant knows the villagers are hiding something, but bending an entire community to his will turns out to be a far messier operation than a military order.

Kramer plays the whole thing as farce with a spine — stubborn ordinary people outwitting an occupying army using nothing but nerve and bad wine. Stream The Secret of Santa Vittoria (1970) online on iFILM.
