Elysium

Elysium (2013) is Neill Blomkamp's sci-fi action film you can watch online on iFILM, starring Matt Damon. The year is 2159. Earth has rotted into one giant slum, while the wealthy live on a luxury space habitat where any illness is cured in seconds.

Ex-con Max takes a lethal radiation dose on a factory floor and learns he has five days left. The only cure floats in orbit on Elysium, off-limits to ordinary people. To force his way up, Max lets a crew bolt a combat exoskeleton straight onto his bones. Standing in his way: ice-cold Defense Secretary Delacourt, played by Jodie Foster, and her unhinged sleeper agent Kruger (Sharlto Copley). Alice Braga and Diego Luna round out the cast.

Blomkamp made this after his breakout District 9, again wrapping street-level science fiction around questions of class and closed borders. The tech looks scavenged and dangerous, the camera stays handheld, every hit lands with real weight. Stream Elysium (2013) online on iFILM.
