Synopsis
As You Like It (2006) — watch online Kenneth Branagh's spirited Shakespeare adaptation on iFILM. The director transplants the Bard's pastoral comedy from the Forest of Arden to feudal Japan, trading English country estates for cherry blossoms and samurai courts in a bold reinvention that actually works.
Rosalind, daughter of a banished duke, falls hard for Orlando at a court wrestling match — then loses everything overnight when her jealous uncle orders her exile. Disguised as a young man, she vanishes into the forest and runs straight into the man she loves, who has no idea who she is. Bryce Dallas Howard carries the double identity with quick wit, while Kevin Kline and Alfred Molina add comic weight on opposite sides of the power struggle.
Branagh shot on location in Japan, and the tension between Elizabethan verse and Meiji-era imagery gives the film an oddly fresh texture. It is uneven in places, but the playfulness of the cast rescues every stumble. Stream As You Like It (2006) on iFILM.
