Dead Again

Los Angeles private detective Mike Church is hired to help an amnesiac woman he calls Grace: no name, no history, just recurring nightmares of a scissors murder set somewhere in the late 1940s. An antique dealer named Franklin Madson puts her under hypnosis, and fragments of another era start bleeding into the present. Branagh plays both the detective and a figure from those buried memories; Thompson takes on two identities across the decades.
